We speak to author Faith Justice, about her book "Hypatia: Her Life and Times," which examines the literary myths and primary sources on the life of the famous philosopher. And we're joined by Professor Zahra Hazari, to discuss her work on gender issues in science education.

Faith L. Justice

Faith L. Justice writes award-winning novels, short stories and articles published in venues such as Salon.com, Writer's Digest, and The Copperfield Review. She’s worked as a lifeguard, computer systems analyst, human resources executive and college professor. Faith writes in her historic home “The Suffragette House” in Brooklyn, New York where she lives with her family and cats. Zahra Hazari

Zahra Hazari is an associate professor in the Department of Engineering & Science Education at Clemson University. Before completing a Ph.D. in science education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) of the University of Toronto, she earned a B.S. in physics and mathematics and an M.S. in physics. She was a national postdoctoral fellow of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Her work on gender issues in science is currently supported by a National Science Foundation CAREER grant and an NSF Gender grant, and has been featured in Science Magazine, Live Science, and Scientific American.
